Start the New Year with Meditation – Virtual Program
Monday, January 10 at 1 p.m. The New Year is a time to create a clean slate. Arlene Samsel has been inspiring audiences to bring joy, peace, positivity and relaxation into our daily lives, so let’s begin the New Year with a fresh start!

This program is brought to you courtesy of Nassau Libraries Health Share.** Arlene Samsel is uniquely qualified and experienced in meditation, public speaking, and the performing arts. In addition, Arlene was director of a camp where she taught children how to meditate.

Growing Plants Indoors With Science and Magic – Virtual Program
Monday, January 10 at 6:30 p.m. Join plant enthusiast and Brooklyn Brainery teacher Ben DiMatteo, and learn the secrets to keeping your houseplants green and happy! Understand the science behind their growth and sustenance, and learn to recognize the tell-tale signals that let you know what your plants crave. Bring your questions!

Parents and Special Education: What are my child’s rights at school? Virtual Program
Tuesday, January 11 at 6:30 p.m. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act is a law designed to ensure that all students with disabilities receive a free appropriate public education that meets their unique needs and prepares them for the future. It’s important to be a knowledgeable partner when working with school personnel to address your child’s educational, social and emotional needs for each school year. Laura Adler-Greene, an experienced attorney in special education law, will explain how you can advocate for your child.

Topics of Discussion: Part 200 Regulations – The section of New York State education regulations pertaining to special education; FAPE – What it is, who is entitled to it, and its significance to individual students; Understanding the IEP – How are children’s meaningful and measurable educational goals determined? What can the school provide to help students meet their goals? Who changes an IEP and when?

Fresh Fiction Book Club – Program in-person and Virtual
Wednesday, January 12 at 6:30 p.m. The book being discussed is: Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi
“Homegoing follows the parallel paths of two sisters and their descendants through eight generations: from the Gold Coast to the plantations of Mississippi, from the American Civil War to Jazz Age Harlem.”

Finding Your Psychic Self! – Virtual Program
Thursday, Jan. 13 at 6:30 p.m. A new year, a new you! Psychic and magician Ron Cain teaches the seven steps needed to develop your psychic ability. Learn about extrasensory perception, clairvoyance and telepathy. Study palmistry and the meaning behind your sun sign, your Chinese animal sign, and your totem animal. Simple meditation and relaxation techniques will be taught.

Paint Night: Sketching and Acrylics with Alma – Virtual Program Friday, January 14 at 7 p.m. Bring in the New Year by drawing and painting a colorful cityscape fireworks display! From beginners to advanced sketchers and painters, enjoy a fun and relaxing evening painting in the comfort of your own home. Monday, January 10 at 7 p.m. All Ages- Family Fun! Celebrate a fun day of switcheroos with Mr. B. & Miss Jessi, Good Morning, or is it good night? Hello, or is goodbye? **All participants will be entered in a Raffle to receive a surprise!

Time for Kids: Celebrate the New Year! In Person Program – 2nd Floor Tuesday, January 11 at 4:30 p.m. Ages: 3 years- 7 years (with parent/caregiver). Come join A Time for Kids, Inc. as we celebrate the New Year in this family fun preschool readiness program! Activities include music, movement, fine and gross motor development and storytelling. There will be a celebration craft!

Yoga (Youth – Virtual Program Wednesday, January 12 at 5:00 p.m. All Ages Youth (Kids/Tweens/Teens). Join Yogi Micheline as she virtually guides you through a variety of yoga poses.
