Installation of a new playground at the Jonathan L. lelpi Firefighters’ Park is scheduled to be begin shortly, the Great Neck Parks Board of Commissioners announced on Tuesday.
Parks Superintendent Peter Renick said the playground structure, which will be located off Grace Avenue, is scheduled to be delivered Monday and construction will begin soon thereafter.
Barring snow, the playground should be able to be used in the next few weeks. Renick said
“We don’t want to wait till spring,” he said. “The kids will want to get on it soon.”
Renick said the commissioners hope to plan for some sort of opening ceremonies.
