Police have charged a New Hyde Park woman with two counts of second-degree assault for fighting officers at L.A. Fitness on Marcus Avenue.

On Tuesday night, Feb. 8, police responded to a disturbance call where they say they observed the woman, Cindy Urquijo, 27, to be highly intoxicated. After requesting an ambulance, Urquijo allegedly became combative and fought the officers while they attempted to provide her aid, punching one in the face.

The officer struck had a cut on his lip while another was bitten in the forearm, leaving a bruise.

Urquijo was arrested and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The two injured officers were treated at the same hospital before being released.
