New Hyde Park Memorial recently celebrated its Great Gladiators. These seventh- and eighth-grade students were recognized for doing good deeds or showing kindness. They enjoyed a pizza lunch with Principal Dr. Richard Faccio.

Grade 8:

  • Deb Chowdhury (Mr. Mechanic)– Enthusiastically volunteered to decorate Mr. Mechanic’s door for the door-decorating competition.
  • Elizabeth George and Christina Wilson (Ms. Katz)– Spearheaded Water for Sudan fundraising.
  • Margaret Gray (Mr. DeJose)– DeJose sat a new English as a New Language student next to Maggie. Without even asking, Maggie began to explain class procedures. She is a kind, thoughtful young lady.

Grade 7:

  • Ava DeLisse (Mr. Colvin)– Extremely helpful with all of her classmates by guiding them through technology when they are in need.
  • Georgina Giannatsis (White Team teachers) – Helped an English as a New Language student and always helps others in class when they need extra guidance. She is like the “mother of the class.”
  • Anthony LaSala (Mrs. Mayo)– Invited a student who had no partner to join his group during a paired activity.
  • Cody McClean (Mrs. Fox)– Tutored a student who was absent to help him catch up with the work he missed. He volunteered during his lunch period.
