NYU Winthrop Hospital’s Breast Health Center today was the proud recipient of more than a dozen daffodil paintings – devotedly painted and donated by employees of The Nature’s Bounty Co., a Ronkonkoma-based global health and wellness leader that makes vitamins, sport and active nutrition products and a wide variety of supplements.
The daffodil is viewed as a symbol of hope and renewal for those battling cancer, and the paintings were created at the first-ever The Nature’s Bounty Co. “Painting with a Purpose” event, in partnership with the American Cancer Society (ACS), to raise awareness of and make strides against breast cancer.
A talented leader from the company led a class of colleagues in crafting the paintings, and funds were also raised at the event in support of the ACS. The colorful daffodils will now brighten numerous treatment rooms at NYU Winthrop’s Breast Health Center, serving as a continual reminder of hope for those impacted by the disease.
“Every day, advancements are being made in the fight against breast cancer. These daffodil paintings serve as important reminders of the hope we all have, both patients and doctors, for a cure and someday soon, the total eradication of the disease,” said Nina D’Abreo, Medical Director of the Breast Health Center at NYU Winthrop Hospital. “We so appreciate such initiatives that help the American Cancer Society continue its important research, advocacy, and support of breast cancer patients.”
Through these and other company events, more than $5,000 was raised for the American Cancer Society through The Nature’s Bounty’s Co. Foundation. Its mission is to enhance lives by supporting wellness initiatives here in New York and around the world.
