Mineola trustees run for re-election

Incumbents Paul Pereira and Paul Cusato are running unopposed for village trustee in the Mineola elections next week.

Incumbents Paul Pereira and Paul Cusato are running unopposed for Mineola village trustee in the March 18 elections.

The lone contested election in Mineola is the village justice race. Acting village Justice Steven Barnwell and former village Trustee Scott Fairgrieve are vying for the seat.

Pereira has served on the board since 2008. He has taught in the Mineola schools since 1993, and is a member of the Lions Club and the Mineola Portuguese Center. Pereira has three children.

Cusato was first elected to the board in 2004. He is a 52-year member of the Mineola Fire Department. A father of four and grandfather of four, he is also a former Little League president and head of the Mineola Athletic Association.

Both Pereira and Cusato attended Mineola High School. They have lived in Mineola for more than a combined 100 years.

The elections will be held on Wednesday, March 18, from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Village Hall Community Center at 155 Washington Ave.
