Mineola schools students named winners of Rosen-Lightsail’s Back to School Reading Challenge

Students at Mineola’s Jackson Avenue School and Mineola Middle School were honored in a special ceremony by Rosen-LightSail, commemorating winners in its first “Back to School Reading Challenge.” Rosen-LightSail is a fully digital and adaptive reading program for students that focuses on improving their abilities, increasing reading stamina and encouraging a love of reading.

Mrs. Curran’s third grade class at Jackson Avenue School, which read a total of 20,982 minutes, earned the Top Class Award from LightSail. Mineola Middle School students Joel Thomas and Noah Chang placed first and second, respectively, in the nation. Thomas read a total of 5,456 minutes and Chang read more than 3,000 minutes.
