Mineola Chiefs upset Manhasset

The Island Now

The 6th Grade Mineola Chiefs Lacrosse Team went on the road this past Sunday and beat the perennial powerhouse Manhasset Indians, 12-8, to keep their undefeated season alive with a record of 6-0.

The Chiefs offense was on fire, moving the ball up and down the field against the Indians. With great precision the Chiefs offense passed the ball around the offensive zone. The scoring was provided by Chiefs’ midfielders Michael O’Connell (4 Goals, 1 Assist), Luke Baskind (3 Goals, 1 Assist), Matt Sluka (2 Goals, 3 Assists), Thomas Albig (2 Goals, 2 Assists) and Attackmen Jalen Rivers (1 Assist), Marc Chiappone (1 Assist).

Chiefs forwards Ryan Dieguez, Dylan Vincenti and Ryan Calderone kept the ball moving in the offensive zone and fought for every ground ball. Defensemen James Reardon, Nick Monteforte and Joe Tallini suffocated the Indians attackmen in front of goalie Mike Sinisi, who had another heck of a day in net, making seven saves. All the boys played and participated in the victory.
