Mineola Avenue repaving underway

Sections of Mineola Avenue located in Roslyn are being repaved as part of the county’s efforts to restore local roads.

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano and Nassau County Legislator Richard Nicolello announced last Thursday that the county is expanding its “Operation Restore our Roadways” to include Mineola Avenue.

“Mineola Avenue is a main roadway that connects the northwest corner of Nassau County to parkways and the center of our county,” Mangano said.  “It is imperative that we continue to improve our roadways for the safety of our residents and our communities.”

The resurfacing project will include the section of Mineola Avenue from Northern Boulevard to Warner Avenue.

The road will be milled to remove the old pavement, and will undergo full-depth repairs along with any joint repairs for existing sections to be prepared for a full one inch asphalt overlay, said Nassau County Department of Public Works spokesperson Mary Studdert.

Mary added that the project will continue on Willis Avenue to the North Service Road of the LIE and any work not completed this fall will be finished in the spring.

“I was happy to work with the community and the county executive to get this repaving project done on Mineola Avenue. It is sorely needed,” Nicolello said.
