Girls Minor Division
Mathnasium faced off with the tough Valley Stream team. They played to the game limits and ended in an 8-8 tie on May 4.
Paige Jones lead the pitching crew four innings giving up one earned run and five unearned.
Claire Mikowski came in to close one out with bases loaded and score 6-8 with the leadoff batter at the plate. Mikowski struck out one and the second batter hit a line drive through SS Sophia Kasimatis to bringing in the tying run when the umpire called the game due to time limit restrictions, with one inning remaining.
Sophia Kas had a single on the day and Julia K had Paige J had two singles and three RBIs each. Stephanie Milinic had three walks and scored two runs while Faith Lusk had a hit and scored a run. The team stranded nine runners with limited stealing rules in affect.
Zadnik DDS faced off with the strong pitching of Garden City South 2 to win 8-2. With three call-ups to field the team which came ready to play. Sara Hopkins and Lauren Krupa scored three runs with two hits each and two RBIs between them to lead the offense. While (P) M. Bleeker kept GCS at bay with her defense’s help where the only two runs allowed came off an awesome homerun by the opposing pitcher.
Mathnasium is now 3-2-1 while Zadnik is 4-1.
Girls Major Division
Giant Industrial was suppose to face off against Floral Park on the May 2, but Floral Park unfortunately could not field a team for the day.
On the May 4, Giant Industrial faced off with Malvern and walked away with a 17-2 win with the assistance of several call-ups to help them field a team.
NHP’s William A. Gross battled with Garden City South 1 team and shorthand walked away with a 18-12 win.
Giant Industrial is 6-1 while William A. Gross is 4-2 on the 2013 season.
