The Manhasset Board of Education and Administrator for the Arts Anthony Ambrogio awarded certificates of recognition to the district’s All-State, All-Eastern and All-National musicians at the January board meeting. A number of these students were selected to perform with more than one ensemble, and as a result, were recognized with multiple honors.

The following students performed at the New York State School Music Association All-State Winter Conference held in Rochester in the late fall of 2018: Luke Chan, Owen Connor, Ashley Huber, Jonathan Kim, Albert Liu, FayFay Ning and Jasmine Zhong. Kim served as principal bassist for the All-State orchestra.

Huber, Kim and Ning will join Alexandra Hong at the National Association for Music Education All-Eastern Music Festival, scheduled to take place in Pittsburgh this April. Hong was principal violinist in the NAfME All-National Honors Ensemble, which was held in Orlando last November. Festival rules prohibit student-musicians from performing with both the NYSSMA All-State winter ensemble and the NAfME All-National ensemble.

“Our students’ accomplishments are the result of many hours of practice, outstanding parental support and, of course, superior instruction over the years by our K-12 team of music specialists,” Ambrogio said.
