SUNY Morrisville

SUNY Morrisville recently announced that Arianna Fernandez of New Hyde Park was named to the Dean’s List for the Fall 2018 semester. Arianna is a major in the health related studies program.

SUNY Oneonta

Karlo Vlahek of Port Washington has received the SUNY Oneonta 2016-2017 Susan Sutton Smith Award for academic excellence. To be eligible for the award, a student must be a freshman, sophomore or junior with a grade-point average of 3.9 or higher.

On Thursday, March 28, and Friday, March 29, Elizabeth Caccavale of Mineola was one of 20 student members of WONY 90.9 FM, SUNY Oneonta’s student-run radio station, who took a Student Association-sponsored field trip to Boston to visit a few of the largest public media institutions in the United States. The students received private guided tours of WGBH and WBUR Radio, and also visited the PRX Podcast Garage and WTBU, Boston University’s student-run radio station.  Caccavale is studying music industry.

The University of Alabama

Nearly 500 students at the University of Alabama highlighted their research and creative projects during the Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Conference on March 27. Among them was Sera Levy of Roslyn Heights, whose presentation was titled “Post-Traumatic Stress and Problem Drinking Among Young Adults: Differences by Trauma Type” in the social sciences category.

Clark University

Niklas Butchma of Manhasset and Nicole Turetsky of Roslyn Heights were named to second honors on the Dean’s List. This selection marks outstanding academic achievement during the fall 2018 semester.
