On Friday, April 12, at the North Ritz Club, with CYO Trustee Kevin Kiley surrounded by friends and family, Tim O’Connell was honored as the 2019 Long Island CYO Role Model of the Year representing St. Aidan’s Parish in Williston Park.

O’Connell, “Coach Tim,” was honored for his 15 years of coaching and volunteering with the St. Aidan’s CYO Program covering Williston Park, East Williston, Albertson, Roslyn Heights, Old Westbury, and parts of Mineola. Besides coaching basketball teams every season, O’Connell is also the boys’ and girls’ basketball coordinator.  He continues to do so even years after his two sons, Thomas and Michael, have aged out and gone on to high school and college.

O’Connell, along with his seven brothers and sisters, are all graduates of St. Aidan’s Elementary School. He is also member of the St. Aidan’s Holy Name and the Knights of Columbus.

O’Connell also runs the Mineola PAL in charge of football and lacrosse.
