The LIU Post women’s swim team will travel to Kutztown, Penn., to take on Kutztown University on Jan. 27, with hopes of improving to 6-1 in their final meet of the season.

The Pioneers have won their previous two meets, including a 123-79 victory over Siena College on Jan. 13 and a 163-99 victory against Assumption College on Senior Day, Jan. 20.

The team dominated Assumption College, winning 12 of 14 events. The team has won 21 of the last 25 events.

On Senior Day, before the meet, the Pioneers honored their three graduating members, senior international business major Laura Bendfeldt, senior nutrition major Jacqueline Tonn, and senior political science major Eline Swensen.

The trio had combined for 66 total wins, All-Metropolitan Conference honors in 20 events, and eight major academic awards entering the day.

The Kutztown meet will be the trio’s final meet of their collegiate careers, and Bendfeldt is excited to make one last memory as a Pioneer.

“I’m grateful the team will make my last meet one of the best memories I have swimming and competing in the pool,” Bendfeldt said.

On Senior Day, Bendfeldt helped the 200-yard medley relay team, consisting of Bendfeldt, juniors Karis Fuller and Caitlin Johnstone, and sophomore Tove Sparrman, secure a first-place finish in 1:47.18 against Assumption College.
