Nassau County is fortunate to be home to The North Shore-LIJ Health System, one of the area’s most respected hospitals. This system took a giant step forward last week when it unveiled a $300-million expansion and renovation of the building that houses the Zuckerberg Pavilion and Katz Women’s Hospital.
Hospital administrators say the 300,000-square foot, 10-story structure “brings the look of the 57-year-old medical facility in New Hyde Park into the 21st Century.” That’s a lot to say for a facility that was already leading the way in women’s healthc are.
LIJ, located on the Queens-Nassau border, is moving away from the multi-bed hospital standard. The new facility hasv162 private rooms and will offer other amenities for patients and their families.
For years there has been nothing in New York to compare with Katz Women’s Hospital when it comes to specialized care for women. Now that hospital is even better.
