Pole Position Raceway, a nationwide chain of indoor go-kart racing facilities, is coming to Long Island this summer.

The 120,000-square-foot building, to be located at 40 Daniel Street in Farmingdale, will feature two quarter-mile race tracks with electric go-karts able to accelerate up to 45 miles per hour.

The facility, which is still under construction, is expected to open in late spring or early summer.

The indoor racing facility will be the fourth location for husband and wife Eyal Farage and Karen Davis-Farage, who also operate three other Pole Position Raceway locations in Jersey City, Syracuse and Buffalo.

“We are pleased to announce our fourth Pole Position Raceway location,” Davis-Farage said. “We are happy to continue our expansion in the New York area and look forward to bringing our authentic and exhilarating racing experience to Farmingdale in the upcoming months of 2014.”

Pole Position Raceway owns 11 locations nationwide, where they offer racing for adults and kids.

Kids must be at least 48 inches tall to race in the go-karts.

Ken Faught, president of P2R Karting, parent company of Pole Position Raceway, said he expects the facility to be one of Long Island’s top attractions.

“We are going to provide Long Islanders with a unique form of entertainment that continues to rank as one of the top entertainment activities for families,” Faught said.

Racing enthusiasts can race against friends and families or compete in the Pole Position Challenge, Grand Prix or Super Pole to win first, second or third place medals in the Winner’s Circle.

Davis-Farage said the races were a new way for people to have fun and bond at the same time.

“I like to describe it as the ‘new bowling’ for corporate-team building and employee and customer appreciation,” she said. “You can race as a group and improve your time each race, plus it’s exciting, memorable and can be competitive too.”

The facility will also feature an arcade room, V.I.P. and private party rooms and concession stands. The facility will also include racing memorabilia.

The company will also partner with local Long Island charities through an organization called CAReS – Cancer, Alzheimer’s, Recovery and thoSe in need. CAReS partners with local charities for fundraising initiatives throughout the year.

The facility is also expected to add 50 jobs to the local economy.
