Reader’s Write: Letter-writer needs lesson in virtues of brevity

The Island Now

Mr. Morris, in this weekly article, expends nearly a page. ( I presume that it has been edited, as the editor’s instructions state, that any item more than 300 words long, will be).

Even so, I would suggest that he goes back a few years, to a writer greater than he and I put together, who said “brevity is the soul of wit”. He then summed up, much better than all that has been spread out in the above article, saying “a plague on both your houses”.

Also, in reply to your denunciation of a good number of congressmen, you should go a bit further back, to the Yom Kippur service, where it says “for there is none righteous upon earth, who doeth only good, and sinneth not”.
