The Town of North Hempstead has announced that new LED streetlights were installed in Manhasset. The new fixtures are along Plandome Road stretching from Northern Boulevard to Webster Avenue.
The existing High-Pressure Sodium Vapor bulbs were replaced by the new Light Emitting Diode (LED) fixtures. The LED lights will produce more light while resulting in a lower wattage use and a reduction in energy cost. This will ultimately result in cost savings for residents. Funding for the project comes from the Town’s Lighting District.
“This project replaces the existing streetlights on Plandome Road with more reliable and energy-efficient LEDs,” said Supervisor Judi Bosworth. “LED lights provide us with energy cost savings that make economic sense.”
“The newly installed lights will create a warm light which will help illuminate Manhasset’s Plandome Road,” said Council Member Lurvey. “The new LED lights will beautify our streets and make them safer for all.”
The Plandome Road LED street lighting project replaces outdated HPS fixtures with LED fixtures that use just 72 watts and produce 15,600 lumens.
