Learn how to bring more luck into your life

The Island Now

How can you increase the likelihood that you’ll be lucky in life?

You will learn how when Janice Kaplan, the author of “How Luck Happens: Using the Science of Luck to Transform Work, Love, and Life,” speaks at Temple Beth Sholom on Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 8 p.m.

TBS Sisterhood and Z’havah Young Leaders Group have partnered with the Sid Jacobson JCC to bring the author to Roslyn.

In her talk, the former editor-in-chief of Parade examines the phenomenon of luck and discovers the various ways you can grab opportunities to make luck for yourself every day.

After spending a year researching and experiencing gratitude for her prior book, “The Gratitude Diaries: How a Year Looking on the Bright Side Can Transform Your Life,” Kaplan now tackles another big, mysterious influence in all of our lives: luck.

She explores the unexpected, little-understood science behind what we call “luck,” proving that many seemingly random events are actually under your — and everyone’s — control.

Using original research, fascinating studies, and engaging interviews, Kaplan reveals simple techniques to create luck in love and marriage, and business and career, as well as in health, happiness, and family relationships.

The insights gained through reading the book prove that everyone — from CEOs to stay-at-home moms — can tip the scales of fortune in their favor.

This event is open to the public. Tickets to the event are $10 at the door. To purchase tickets in advance, go to www.tbsroslyn.org.
