Landmark adds four shows for 2016

The Island Now

Member pre-sale starts today for four new shows representing a wide range of musical genres that have been added to the Spring, 2016 schedule at Landmark on Main Street’s Jeanne Rimsky Theatre. 

The four shows are:

Regina Carter’s Southern Comfort  

Sunday, March 6, 2016 at 7 p.m.

Violin virtuoso Regina Carter is considered the foremost jazz violinist of her generation.  Her latest release, Southern Comfort, includes a blend of folk songs and spirituals, serving as Carter’s interpretation of her roots through a modern lens.

Graham Parker Duo

Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 8 p.m.

Graham Parker has worked with guitarist Brinsley Schwarz since 1975’s Graham Parker and the Rumour. Expect songs from their early albums with the Rumour, his solo career and the two latest Rumour reunion albums, “Three Chords Good and Mystery Glue.”

The Subdudes

Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 7:30 p.m.

This New Orleans-formed group is a living encapsulation of American music — a vibrant cauldron of sounds that stirs together meaty grooves and jazzy dynamics, soulful R&B swagger, easy vocal harmonies, cheeky rock ‘n’ roll attitude and folky social consciousness .

Afro-Cuban All Stars

Friday, April 29, 2016 at 8 p.m.

The Afro-Cuban All Stars, founded by Buena Vista Social Club legend Juan De Marcos is a unique orchestra that captures the undeniable spirit of AfroCuban music with a potent mix of driving percussion, a powerhouse horns, piano, bass, guitars and incomparable vocals.
