Lake Success searches for recreation director

The Lake Success Park Commission is on the lookout for a new parks and recreation director.

The board’s selection committee has identified two candidates with experience working in the park district, but is open to other options.

“We were still looking for someone else to come in,” said committee member Kara Mindel.

The village’s previous director left the position in 2012 after having her second child, according to Milner.

Park commissioner David Milner said the candidates under consideration were strong, but that the board should try to recruit a director with more experience.

“Each of them has some strong points, and each of them has a weakness,” said Milner.

Milner added that the board could explore the possibility of appoint the two people under consideration as co-directors.

Candidates with experience in physical education and life guarding are encouraged to apply.

Board members said they had reached out to nearby educators to gauge interest, but had not received additional applications.

The parks and recreation director is tasked with administering all aspects of the park, pool, ball fields and tennis courts, and reports directly to the park commission.

“They are our hands, eyes and ears,” said Milner.
