Village of Lake Success trustees set dates at Monday’s board meeting for a work session and public hearing to discuss the village’s budget for the upcoming fiscal year.

The board approved a budget work session date for Monday, March 21 and a public hearing for Monday, April 11.

Village Administrator Patrick Farrell said the budget should be passed before the end of April for the fiscal year beginning June 1.

Village of Lake Success Mayor Ron Cooper said this year the village’s state-mandated tax cap is .71 percent.

Also at the meeting, the board held a discussion about the possible merger of the village’s golf fund with its general fund.

Farrell said the merger was being considered to “simplify the budget.”

He also said the village’s golf course is self-sustaining because of non-resident membership and corporate membership fees.

In a letter sent to village residents in November, Cooper said he believed the fund merger “enables [the village] to better manage all of our recreational facilities on an even footing and allows us the flexibility of putting our tax dollars where they best benefit the residents.”
