Roslyn High School senior Sarah Faber was honored by the Roslyn Rotary Club at its luncheon on Dec. 19 as the January Student of the Month.

Her community service has included serving as the founder of Serve it to Sunrise where she developed a multi-state fundraiser for Camp Sunrise, conducted planning meetings, oversaw events and drill groups. She also served as Executive Board Co-President of Friends for Friends, planning gatherings to promote social inclusion for teens with special needs, recruited and supervised volunteers and adapted activities to abilities of participants; and she was an Ambassador for STEAM Shack for Sunrise Day Camp promoting awareness for pediatric cancer.

She has volunteered at Cohen Children’s Medical Center assisting child life specialists and also for High Hoops teaching children with special needs to play basketball while improving confidence and communications skills.
