ETHEL invigorates the contemporary music scene with exuberance, intensity, imaginative programming and exceptional artistry.  This performance is part of The New York State Presenters Network Presenter-Artist Partner Project made possible through a regrant from the New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency with the support of Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.  Single ticket price: $43 that includes a $3 facility fee.

Author Talk and Booksigning: “Substance: Inside New Order” by Peter Hook

Thursday, Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. 

In this final installment of his internationally bestselling three-part memoir–including “The Hacienda” and “Unknown Pleasures”–British rocker Peter Hook focuses on the 1980s New Wave and Dance Punk scene and the rise of one of the most influential bands of the Second British Invasion: New Order.  Hook tells the complete, unvarnished story of New Order’s founding and evolution; the band’s experiences in the New York City club scene and rapid rise to international fame; its impact on house music, techno, and rave; and its eventual rancorous dissolution.  The bassist of Joy Division and New Order, Hook will speak and sign copies of his new book.

Adelphi’s Distinguished Faculty in Concert: “Love Notes

Friday, Feb. 3 at 7:30 p.m.

The Adelphi Faculty in Concert presents a musical look into the friendship and love of Robert and Clara Schumann and Johannes Brahms.  This program delves into the music and excerpts from letters shared between them that reveals their thoughts and feelings.  Featuring Andy Bhasin and Philip Carter on violin, Anne-Marie Bedney on viola, Deborah Sepe on cello, and Karen Faust-Baer on piano.  Cost: $20.
