We should not ignore the growing power of radical Islamic groups that are committed to America’s and Israel’s destruction. The increasing influence of the Muslim Brotherhood and its offshoots and front groups around the world here in America – including these groups’ infiltration of the Obama administration and U.S. security, defense and diplomatic agencies – are of particular concern.
Since its founding in 1928, the Muslim Brotherhood has spawned almost every Middle Eastern terrorist group, including Hamas. The Muslim Brotherhood’s goal is complete Islamic domination of the world. It has a long history of engaging in terrorism and political assassinations. Its motto is “Allah is our objective. The Prophet is our leader. The Qur’an is our law. Jihad is our way. Dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope.”
The Muslim Brotherhood openly calls for violence against the United States and Israel, and espouses something called “civilization jihad” – destroying Western civilization from within.
U.S. governmental officials have admitted to the dangerous roles of the Muslim Brotherhood and its front groups in the United States in court documents, court evidence, correspondence and briefings with Congress and public statements. Yet, according to a recent study, U.S. governmental agencies continue to engage in “outreach” and continue to be advised by the very same Muslim Brotherhood front groups.
In the 2008 Holy Land Foundation terrorist finance support trial in the Northern District of Texas, the government’s “Explanatory Memorandum” stated that the Muslim Brotherhood is engaged in “a civilization Jihadist process with all the word means. he Ikhwan, the Brotherhood must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within.” The last page of this memorandum listed 29 organizations in the U.S. whom the author, who was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, stated are involved in the “civilization jihad process” in the United States.
A recent detailed report by the Center for Security Policy detailed the Muslim Brotherhood’s infiltration of every branch of our intelligence and security apparatus, including the FBI, the Justice Department and even our military. According to this report, this infiltration resulted in the adoption of policies that have resulted in perils such as Major Nidal Hassan’s continued employment in the U.S. military despite his open declarations of radical Islamic doctrine. This led to the Hassan’s tragic massacre of 13 American soldiers and wounding of scores more at Fort Hood.
On June 13, 2012, five Congresspersons, all of whom serve in top positions on Congressional committees dedicated to American security, issued a joint press release and wrote letters to the Inspectors General of our top security, defense and intelligence agencies – the Departments of Defense, State, Justice, Homeland Security and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, asking these agencies to thoroughly investigate the Muslim Brotherhood’s infiltration and impact on our national security from within the very agencies that are supposed to protect us.
In the joint press release, Congressman Tom Rooney aptly noted: “The Muslim Brotherhood openly calls for violence against the United States, but we’re learning that this organization may be infiltrating our ranks, even within our military. We need our top security agencies to investigate thoroughly the degree to which members of this organization are active in our defense and intelligence communities, and what impact that has on our national security.”
Also in the joint press release, Congressman Lynn Westmoreland added: “We must always stay vigilant when fighting against those who want to destroy our way of life. The Muslim Brotherhood may not have the name recognition of al-Qaeda or the Taliban, but that does not mean they don’t have the potential to be just as deadly. I’m hoping these letters will send the message to our country’s intelligence, law enforcement and diplomatic agencies that we cannot ignore the Muslim Brotherhood and must look into their operations and membership with the seriousness that is necessary in order to root them out of our government.”
In addition to Congressmen Westmoreland and Rooney, the other three Congresspersons who sought an investigation of Muslim Brotherhood infiltration included Louie Gohmert (TX-01), Michele Bachmann (MN-06) and Congressmen Trent Franks (AZ-02).
It is disappointing that the Obama administration and the five U.S. security and defense agencies have refused to commence the needed investigation of infiltration by the Muslim Brotherhood and its front groups, requested by the five above-mentioned Congresspersons. Such an investigation should be promptly undertaken.
It is also disappointing that instead of joining in the demand for the much-needed, long-overdue investigation of the Muslim Brotherhood and its front groups’ influence, various persons have instead attacked the Congresspersons who called for this investigation.
Congresspersons Westmoreland, Rooney, Bachmann, Gohmert and Franks are simply bravely and honorably fulfilling the obligations of their job – to protect the American people and to oversee and hold accountable all government agencies.
Many of the unfair attacks have been specifically directed at Congresswoman Bachmann. Muslim Congressman Keith Ellison has particularly gone out of his way to attack Congresswoman Bachmann.
Congresswoman Bachmann is a dedicated public servant who is devoted to the safety of America and its allies, including Israel, and all freedom-loving people around the world.
On July 13, 2012, Congresswoman Bachmann wrote a detailed, heavily sourced and footnoted 15-page letter addressing the attacks on her, and providing further detailed reasons why an investigation of the influence and infiltration by the Muslim Brotherhood and its U.S. front groups is urgently needed.
Among other things, Ms. Bachmann’s letter details incidents in which U.S. officials took positions and engaged in actions that contradicted stated U.S. policy.
For instance, in June 2012, the new White House Director for Community Partnerships admitted that the Obama administration has had hundreds of meetings with CAIR –despite the fact that the FBI officially cut ties with CAIR because of CAIR’s documented activities in support of the Hamas terrorist group.

Instead of attacking the messengers, we should all support the call for an investigation of Muslim Brotherhood front groups’ influence on America, the Obama administration, and the U.S. agencies that are supposed to be protecting us.
