The Huntington Arts Council, in conjunction with The Huntington Art Center, Heckscher Museum of Art, Huntington Historical Society, b.j. spoke gallery, fotofoto gallery and Chelsea Studio and Gallery will take part in the 2016 Huntington Village Art Walk. This free event takes place Saturday, May 14, from 4 to 8 p.m.

This self guided walk will provide a fun way to build more awareness of, and help expand, Huntington’s art scene.

Currently the walk includes these seven locations; Huntington Arts Council, The Huntington Art Center, Heckscher Museum of Art, Huntington Historical Society, b.j. spoke gallery, fotofoto gallery and Chelsea Studio and Gallery.

Each venue will be providing refreshments, opportunities to purchase raffle tickets and in some cases will have artist(s) on site to discuss their source of passion and inspiration.

Wendy Curtis of the Huntington Arts Center, who worked on putting the idea in motion, acknowledges that the concept may have been “tossed around” for years, but really resonated with her when a customer called looking for art to display in her new home. Not necessarily knowing where to go and being resistant to going into the city, Wendy told her there were great choices right here in Huntington Village. “

So the spark was lit, and off I went to collaborate with our galleries and museums to create more awareness of Huntington’s art scene.  Plenty of people know to come to the village for the restaurants, and we would like to help foster the arts and grow the art scene!  In the future, we may grow the number of participating locations while still keeping it an intimate experience.” Wendy said.
