Huntington chorus to sing holiday songs

The Island Now

The Huntington Men’s Chorus will usher in the 2015 holiday season on Dec. 5 with songs of the season by the world’s greatest composers and arrangers.

Since its origin in 1949, the HMC has been entertaining Long Island audiences twice annually with programs that include Broadway medley’s, sea chanteys, spirituals, classical pieces as well as sacred and patriotic music.

A founding member of the Huntington Arts Council, the men inaugurate Huntington’s free summer concert series in Huntington’s Heckscher Park each year.  Their contributions to the community have included annual college scholarships, food drives for the Harry Chapin food bank and performances at nursing homes and memorial services.

This season they will feature the music of Stephen Sondheim, Richard Rodgers, Billy Joel and their annual holiday sing-a-long.

The concert will be held at Huntington High School on Dec. 5 at 8 p.m.  Tickets are available at the door or on their website www.HuntingtonMensChorus.Org.
