Founded in 1959, Holy Child Academy (HCA) in Old Westbury will celebrate sixty years providing faith-based, challenging education with a magnificent gala on Friday, Nov. 15 at Leonard’s of Great Neck. On this night, the academy’s new pop Glee Club will perform. The Glee Club, comprised of children grades 5 through 8, is part of a creative arts initiative HCA is rolling out to enhance its current curriculum offerings, which will help students not only foster self-expression, but develop personal and professional skills they can carry into the future.

Head of school Art Viscusi, a musician himself, supports the philosophy that the arts can cultivate cognitive abilities and forms of intelligence to complement educational instruction in other disciplines. In addition, research proves the arts provide the children a self-awareness that facilitates social-emotional learning. As part of Viscusi’s five-year strategic plan, HCA is on track to become a premiere learning center for the performing and visual arts, film, and radio.
