Career Workshop: Working with Job Boards and Search Firms Monday, September 20 at 1 p.m. Tips for answering ads online to get your resume to the top of the pile. How to use key words and match your resume to the job description to outsmart the applicant tracking system (ATS). Learn about the two kinds of search firms and how to work with the recruiter to your advantage as part of your total job campaign.

Zoom: Prostate Health Updates Tuesday, September 21 at 6 p.m. Speakers: Veronica Bilenkin, consumer health librarian; Will Jowsey, MBBS, resident physician. Learn what to expect at a prostate cancer screening, when to begin and how often to follow up. Family & Children’s Association: Nassau County Senior Property Tax Exemption Workshop Wednesday, September 22 at 1 p.m. Please bring a pencil or pen and paper to take notes! Family & Children’s Association staff will be onhand to provide instructions on how to properly fill out the New York State Enhanced STAR school tax exemption and the Nassau County Senior Citizen Low Income property tax exemption application. Enhanced star is for seniors age 64+ who have 2020 income under $92,000;The additional low income senior discount if your 2020 income (less your medical expenses) is under $37,400. Book Discussion: Mystery Book Club Wednesday, September 22 at 6:30 p.m. The book being discussed is: The Burglar by Thomas Perry. “A cunning thief is on the run for her life in a breakneck thriller.” This program will be both in person and virtual.

Lincoln & New York: The City That Made Him President Thursday, September 23 at 7 p.m. New York Historical Society Lecture Series: Lincoln & New York: The City That Made Him President presented by Jim Picinich. On February 27, 1860, Abraham Lincoln took the stage at Cooper Union and delivered an address before a crowd of 1,500 people. This speech catapulted Lincoln onto the national stage and helped propel him to the White House just one year later. In this interactive virtual presentation, learn about New York during this era and why the city was instrumental in creating and sustaining the evolving image of Lincoln as a partisan politician, statesman, wartime commander-in-chief, emancipator, and ultimately, a martyr to union.

Long Island author Marie Ruggles will discuss science – based ways to protect yourself from unnecessary illness and how to build a natural kitchen pharmacy to keep you and your family healthy all year long.

Connecting Body, Mind, and Spirit Through Meditation Friday, September 24 at 2 p.m. Medical research has uncovered amazing facts about meditation and the body-mind-spirit connection. Join Gerry Gorman to learn how meditation can be used to minimize the effects of stress and maximize speed healing. Learn the tools needed to make meditation part of daily life. YA Art Club Friday, September 17 at 5 p.m. Grades 5 – 12. Join Ms. A outside, under our tent, to create a unique art project!

Kahoot Trivia: Circus and Carnival Fun! Monday, September 20 at 7 p.m. All Ages – Family Fun! Test your knowledge on all things circus and carnival in this fun virtual trivia night! All who attend will be entered in a raffle to win a prize. An additional prize will be awarded to the night’s trivia contest winner!

Time for Kids: Back To School Special! (Outside- Parking Lot) Wednesday, September 22 at 4:30 p.m. Ages: Birth- 7 years (with parent/caregiver). Come join A Time for Kids, Inc. in this family fun program (thru age 7) all about school! Activities include music, movement, fine and gross motor development and storytelling! There will be a school bus matching craft! Location: Library Parking Lot

Spooky Animals in the Woods with Johnda Ferrari (Outside- Parking Lot) Thursday, September 23 at 5 p.m. Grades: 2-4. Meet and learn about eerie animals that live in the woods!

Play Hooray (Outside- Parking Lot) Friday, September 24 at 10:30 a.m. Ages: 18 months & Up (w/ parent or caretaker). Stories, music and movement activities with Mollie the Mouse.
