The Hillside Public Library, in conjunction with Assemblyman Ed Ra’s office, is doing a School Supply Drive. We appeal to our patrons to please consider this worthy cause, and thereis a bin in the library where your donations can be placed. Included in the needed items are: backpacks, binders, crayons, erasers, calculators, highlighters, rulers, composition books, scissors, markers, pens and pencils and other school supplies. We thank you for your generosity.

Financial IQ: Achieving Financial Independence Monday, August 16 at 7 p.m. A Guide for those in their 20’s and 30’s. What is Financial Independence, exactly? In my 20’s, what financial tasks can I focus on? In my 30’s, what financial targets do I want to achieve? Finanicial advisor Robert Donohue will help you design a plan to define your living expenses, figure out how to support your desired lifestyle, avoid common money mistakes, and more.

Flowers for the Late Summer and Early Fall Garden Tuesday, August 17 at 7 p.m. Join Paul Levine, the Plant Guy, to learn how to prepare your late summer and early fall garden.

Summer Bingo Wednesday, August 18 at 11 a.m. Join us in the parking lot for a fun game of bingo. This event will take place outside. (weather permitting). Please note this program is intended for adults only.

Book Discussion: Mystery Book Club Wednesday, August 18 at 7 p.m. The book being discussed is: What Angels Fear by C.S. Harris. A young nobleman stands accused of murdering a young woman and must prove his innocence in 1800s London.

Summer Craft Corner Tuesday, August 19 at 6 p.m. Create a beautiful magnetic clothespin decoration for your home! This program will take place in the library parking lot. (weather permitting). Please note this program is intended for adults. Children over 12 are welcome, if accompanied by a parent or guardian who can assist with the craft.

Time for Kids: Under the Sea! Friday, August 13 at 10 a.m. Ages: Birth- 5 years (with parent/caregiver). Come join A Time for Kids, Inc. as we dive deep down under the sea in this family fun preschool program! Activities include music, movement, fine & gross motor development and storytelling! There will be a rainbow Fish craft demonstration. Suggested materials : Paper plate; Scraps of colored paper; Scissors and Glue.

Ocean Adventures with Johnda Ferrari (OUTSIDE- PARKING LOT) Tuesday, August 17 at 5:30 p.m. Grades: 2-4. Science facts, games, puzzles and a craft!

Story and Craft: Monkeying Around! (OUTSIDE-PARKING LOT) Wednesday, August 18 at 3:30 p.m. Grades: 1-3 (going into). Join Mr. B. in the parking lot for stories, crafts and fun adventures! Topic this week: “ooh ooh ah ah, All About Monkeys!”

Commotion in the Ocean! Pajama Story Time Thursday, August 19 at 7 p.m. All Ages! Join Mrs. S., Ms. Karen & Mr. B. for stories, music and movement!

Jump for Joy Friday, August 20 at 10 a.m. Ages: 18 months- 4 years (with parent/caregiver). A fun-filled movement program with music & dancing!
