Fall Prevention Workshop Monday, July 12 at 1 p.m. Falls are the number one reason older adults lose their independence. Taking some simple steps to prevent falls can help you stay active and independent. What You Need to Know about Arthritis Tuesday, July 13 at 10 a.m. Arthritis is a term for joints that are inflamed, swollen, painful, red and stiff. It is the leading cause of chronic disability in the US, and limits activity more than any other chronic condition. Medicare Updates Tuesday, July 13 at 1 p.m. This program is designed for existing and new Medicare members.Barry Klitsberg, a certified and experienced counselor from the Nassau County Health Insurance Information Counseling and Assistance Program (HIICAP), will discuss: Supplemental Insurance Medicare Advantage, Prescription Drug Plans, Medicare Savings Programs, NYS EPIC Drug Coverage, and more. Summer Craft Corner Tuesday, July 13 at 6 p.m. Create a fun summer starfish craft!This event will take place in the library parking lot (weather permitting). Please note this program is intended for adults.

Stemtastic: Ocean Creatures and Flying Features! Monday, July 12 at 5:30 p.m. Grades: K-4 (parental help with younger grades) We’ll construct and experiment with our hoop gliders as we learn the principles that keep sharks buoyant and planes aloft. **Your stem kit bags (excluding tape & scissors) will be available on Thursday, July 8 from (12 pm-7 pm) or Friday, July 9 from (11 am-6 pm) or Monday, July 12 from (11 am-5 pm). Materials needed: Two or more straws, 2-3 sheets of white paper, tape, scissors, paper clips, and a balloon and if you still have the wooden paddles from the paddle boat, I would add two to each bag, we can see how different sea creatures use their tails.

Cooking & Baking with Chef Rob! Tuesday, July 13 at 7 p.m. Join Chef Rob’s Spring Food Festival- “Summer Food Festival (part 2)” live on Facebook! Family fun for all ages! If you will be baking/cooking along, please have your ingredients, bowls, and measuring spoons ready. For further information, and a list of ingredients needed, please go to the library’s website.

Frogs, Bugs, Chinchillas and More! Thursday, July 15 at 7 p.m. Grades: K-4. Join Jason Reilly and his live animals for a fun virtual show! Learn about frogs, bugs, chinchillas and more! Discover what these animals eat, when they sleep, and how they protect themselves. This funny show is packed with live animals, fun facts and surprises!

Time for Kids: Rumble In The Jungle! Friday, July 16 at 10 a.m. Ages: Birth- 5 years (with parent/caregiver). Come join A Time for Kids, as we get wild and explore the jungle in this family fun preschool program! Activities include music, movement, fine & gross motor development and storytelling. There will be a paper chain snake craft demonstration. Suggested materials: 2 pieces of construction paper; Scissors; Stapler and Crayon or marker.
