Our V.I.T.A. (Voluntary Income Tax Assistance) Program has been extended to all Saturdays until May 15. You can call the library, on a weekday, to request an appointment for either 12 noon or 12:30 p.m. on those Saturdays.
PET FOOD DRIVE
Hillside Library is partnering with Assemblywoman Gina L. Sillitti’s office in supporting Long Island Cares and Baxter’s Pet Pantry, in order to provide individuals and families in need, so that they can maintain their pets. There is a box at the library where your donations can be dropped off; and the supplies needed are: 5+ pound bags of pet food; canned pet food; pet treats; cat litter and NEW pet toys. We thank you for your generosity.

An Evening of Music with Les Degen Friday, April 16 at 7 p.m. Join Singer and Entertainer Les Degen as he takes us on an entertaining musical journey down Memory Lane with some of the greatest standards and show tunes ever written!
Reshaping Unconscious Bias with Dr. Penny Stern Tuesday, April 20 at 7 p.m. Dr. Penny Stern will illustrate the difference between bias and unconscious bias, including racial bias, and how to increase the conscious awareness of the factors influencing decision-making. Dr. Stern is Assistant Vice-President, Preventative Medicine & Clinical Program at Northwell Health. This program is brought to you courtesy of Nassau Libraries Health Share. Book Discussion: Mystery Book Club Wednesday, April 21 at 7 p.m. The book being discussed is: The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley. It is the summer of 1950–and at the once-grand mansion of Buckshaw, young Flavia de Luce, an aspiring chemist with a passion for poison, is intrigued by a series of inexplicable events: A dead bird is found on the doorstep, a postage stamp bizarrely pinned to its beak. Then, hours later, Flavia finds a man lying in the cucumber patch and watches him as he takes his dying breath.

Lego – Balloon Car Thursday, April 22 at 4:30 p.m. Grades: 2-4. A hands-on STEM workshop that combines the LEGOs and Science! Children will build their own Balloon Car out of Legos and learn about kinetic and potential energy. **Pickup LEGO kits before the event- Materials Fee: $2
