Herricks Middle School violinist Kaylee Luo was named the first-place winner in Division I of the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra’s Concerto and Vocal Competition. She is among only 16 finalists that performed in a concert held on Feb. 5 at the Congregational Church of Huntington in Centerport.

Kaylee played Max Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1. As a first-place winner, Kaylee will receive a cash award and is eligible to potentially perform as a soloist with her MYO ensemble during the 2020-2021 season concerts.
