Guitar legend Nugent to come to Westbury

The Island Now

Guitar legend Ted Nugent will perform with special guest Laura Wilde at the NYCB Theatre at Westbury on Friday, Aug. 9.

Nugent has carved a permanent place in rock & roll history as the ultimate guitar-shredding showman, selling more than 40 million albums, performing an incredible 6,400 plus high-octane concerts, and continuing to set attendance records at venues around the globe.

Nugent’s career spans five decades of multi-platinum hits, from the ground breaking Amboy Dukes’ hit “Journey to the Center of the Mind,” to classics like “Stranglehold” (widely considered one of the greatest Classic Rock songs of all time and ranked as one of the greatest guitar solos of all time by Guitar World), “Cat Scratch Fever,” (32nd Best Hard Rock Song of All Time by VH1), “Wango Tango,” “Great White Buffalo,” the Damn Yankees chartbuster “High Enough,” and the cult classic “Fred Bear,” (the most requested song for radio airplay in Michigan and Wisconsin).

Nugent has been featured on VH1’s Behind the Music, A & E’s Biography and more. This year, Nugent was named Detroit’s Greatest Guitar Player of All Time by readers of MLive.

Laura Wilde’s love of musical instruments and her fascination for old-style blues and rock music has resulted in her being invited to open for such artists as diverse as Nugent, Fuel, and Shinedown.

Originally from Melbourne, Australia, her talent on both guitar and bass quickly made Wilde a heavily sought after musician which led to work with a who’s who of Australian artists. She released her critically acclaimed debut album “Sold My Soul” in 2012.

The show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $39.50 and $29.50 plus applicable service charges and are available now online at www.ticketmaster.com, charge by phone at 800-745-3000 or at the Westbury box office.
