Greed, selfishness threaten founding father’s ideals

The Island Now

Thank you, Mr. Nahas, for your most recent letter to the editor. You were a ray of sunshine and reasonableness regarding the opinions and prejudices of those who cannot accept the idea that our president’s acceptance of the challenge to make the future better is the only way left for us to go.

His critics, and they are many, do not see that greed, hatred and fear of change could destroy the true ideals of our founding fathers. Yes, they were for freedom. They were full of love for their fellow man and belief that they should all be able to enjoy life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Today, however, we are seeing too much selfishness, disregard for the least among us, and distortion of the basic high ideals of the best minds in our country.  I must urge those who fear for our future to keep telling the truth, and urge everyone to look inside  and ask who really wants the best for our nation and all of its people. I emphasize, for all.
