Great Neck High School students attend leadership conference

The Island Now

Thirteen juniors from North High School and South High School attended the 16th annual Student-Athletes as Leaders Conference at Hofstra University on Jan. 31. This conference supports and encourages athletes to serve as positive student leaders in their schools and in their community.

This year’s program included a keynote address by Division I women’s basketball coach Erik Johnson, as well as numerous workshops for students, coaches, athletic directors, and high school principals. Students from Great Neck collaborated with their counterparts from high schools across Nassau County to develop and enhance their leadership skills.

North High School Principal Holtzman delivered opening and closing remarks at this regional conference, which was sponsored by the Nassau County High School Principals’ Association, the Nassau County Physical Education Consortium, and the Hofstra University School of Education.
