GN Plaza OKs new businesses

The Village of Great Neck Plaza Board of Trustees approved permits for two new businesses at a meeting Wednesday, Nov. 7.

Local exercise buffs may welcome the arrival of Pin Point Fitness, a personal training studio located at 1 Great Neck Road underneath the Capelli Doro hair salon.

Village mayor Jean Celender said the studio’s operations made it a good candidate for a conditional-use permit.

“Since it’s mostly one-on-one training, it’s not that intensive a use,” Celender said. The gentleman who’s an owner of the facility has been in the business, and we believe that this is a business that we’re happy to have in the process.”

The board also approved a permit for a convenience store at 21 South Middle Neck Road near the Great Neck Long Island Rail Road Station.

“[The store owner] has about six or eight of them throughout Brooklyn,” said Celender. “I think it will be the kind of convenience store that will serve some benefit to the surrounding neighborhood.”

The board’s next meeting, scheduled for the day before Thanksgiving, has been cancelled.
