Gala Fundraiser for the Parent Resource Center

The Island Now

On Friday, March 9, the Parent Resource Center (PRC) will honor four amazing, dedicated teachers and volunteers. Nicole Asselta, Hope Pecullan, Jennifer Schiffer, and Gail Thrope are the heart and soul of the PRC’s Outreach Program, specifically its Stepping Stones classes. These women plan and execute a weekly preschool experience for children from low-income families (beginning as infants and ending at 4 years old) in Port Washington. After completing the program these children enter the Port Washington School District with the basic skills they need to flourish.

This year’s event will be held at the Village Club of Sands Point. The theme is “masquerade” and will feature casino games, live music, a strolling magician, raffles baskets, silent auction items, dinner, and cocktails. This event is sold out but if you would like to make a donation to the PRC visit https://tinyurl.com/yapvd7f2

We would not be able to have this event or provide many of the services we offer without the generosity of our sponsors. Thank you, Peter & Jeri Dejana Family Foundation, ProHEALTH Urgent Care a division of ProHEALTH Care, ProHEALTH Dental, TD Bank, Joseph D’Alonzo and Dina DeGiorgio. We are also the proud recipient of support from the Community Chest of Port Washington.

It will be a memorable evening for everyone, as well as a chance to give back to our community. The funds raised from this event will go to enhancing the PRC facility and expanding the programs offered to the children and families in our community.

The Parent Resource Center is a nonprofit community center for parents with young children (ages 0-5) in our community. The PRC offers mommy & me classes, separation classes, play preschool, open play, social events for parents and kids, support groups for parents of middle school and high school students, Parent University, an Outreach Program for low-income families and much more.
