The Village of North Hills has again postponed a public hearing concerning Buckley Country Day School’s application to expand its parking lot over concerns regarding the coronavirus.

A statement released by Village Administrator Marianne Lobaccaro says that while the village will hold its regular meeting on Wednesday, March 25, its public hearings, including one on Buckley, will be adjourned to the Wednesday, April 15 meeting, citing the “current health emergency declared by Governor Andrew Cuomo…in recognition of legitimate concerns regarding public gatherings.”

An application filed by Buckley with the village includes, among other elements, the addition of 197 parking spots to the existing 120, resulting in a total of 317 spots, among other moves requested for safety reasons, as school representatives said at a Board of Trustees meeting in January.

Residents from the Acorn Ponds condominiums and other surrounding areas reacted negatively, and claimed that Buckley failed to address issues including loud noise during the summer, did not keep their trails clear, and that drainage from the school often resulted in damage to the condominiums.

The public hearing on the Buckley project will take place at North Hills Village Hall on Wednesday, April 15 at 7:30 p.m.
