A former bookkeeper of a Lake Success pharmaceutical research center has been accused of embezzling more than $129,000 from the company over a three-year period, Nassau County police said.

Donna M. Castellano, 57, was arrested Wednesday and faces charges of 2nd degree grand larceny and 1st degree falsifying business records.

From Oct. 2, 2012 to Jan. 9, 2015, Police said Castellano issued herself checks and direct debit payments from her former employer, Clinical Research Alliance, that were then deposited into her personal accounts.

She then allegedly falsified records to show the checks were paid to the company’s business partners and added payroll hours for time she did not work, police said.

Authorities from the Major Case Bureau said Castellano, of New York City, used company funding to pay her own utility bills, among other expenses.

Castellano was due to be arraigned Thursday in First District Court in Hempstead.
