Village of Lake Success administrator Patrick Farrell has been elected president of the New York State Association of City and Village Clerks.

“I was honored to represent all the villages and cities in New York State for the New York State Association, and the trust they put in me,” Farrell said.

Farrell’s selection for the post was lauded by Village of Lake Success Mayor Ronald Cooper, who praised Farrell’s work in the village since he took office earlier this year.

“Patrick Farrell’s election to this prestigious post is an affirmation of his hard work for the Association and his talent as an Administrator,” Cooper wrote in a statement. “While only becoming Village Administrator at Lake Success in January of this year, he has already demonstrated his ability and his dedication to our Village. We are proud and fortunate to have him.”

The association is responsible for putting together the curriculum for the New York Conference of Mayors conference and assisting with communication among village clerks and constituents. Farrell will also attend quarterly meetings and co-ordinate with clerks state-wide, he said.

“I will also visit all of the meetings and to go to their clerk meetings around the state,” Farrell said.

Farrell, who was named as the replacement of retiring Village of Lake Success Clerk Carol Pogrell last November, previously served as the clerk-treasurers of New Hyde Park and Floral Park.

Farrell is Nassau native, having spent his childhood in New Hyde Park and Port Washington and who now lives in Garden City Park.

Farrell also previously served as president of the Long Island Village Clerks and Treasurers association.

While Farrell has dedicated years of his professional life to municipal service, he also has another calling: band-leading troubadour.

Farrell, a piano-playing singer-songwriter and Billy Joel tribute artist, has recorded with Billy Joel’s saxophonist Richie Cannata and released a solo album.

Farrell graduated from the State University of New York at Fredonia with a degree in business administration.

He also holds credentials as a registered and certified municipal clerk from Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor relations.
