Angelo Ferrara is a Republican representing the Town of North Hempstead’s 3rd District but he says he pays little attention to party labels or even district lines. His goal, he said, is to serve residents.
And he apparently means it.
Ferrara, a resident of North Hempstead for 40 years, has effectively worked across party lines throughout his career both to serve his district and the town in general.
He is knowledgeable about the workings of the town and responsive to his constituents, and even residents who aren’t constituents.
He also has his priorities straight in seeking to keep spending down and to reduce delays in obtaining permits from the Building Department — a widespread complaint of town residents.
Ferrara is opposed by Jerry Vattamala, a lawyer with the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund.
Vattamala brings a passion for service but has not been closely involved in the community until recently.
We think he is a capable person who could serve the town well.
But at the moment we believe Ferrara is the clear choice. We endorse Ferrara.
The 3rd District encompasses Garden City Park, Mineola, Williston Park, Garden City and parts of New Hyde Park.
