Dinosaur and wild animal exhibit coming to Nassau County

The Island Now

Dinosaurs and animals are coming to Long Island with the grand opening of Dinosaurs! and People’s United Bank Animal Adventure at the Center for Science, Teaching & Learning in Rockville Centre.

The center will host a grand opening of the exhibit on Wednesday, July 10 for VIPs and the media only ahead of its scheduled July 15 opening to the general public. At the special grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony, VIPs, elected officials, and business leaders will join the center’s executive director and national STEM advocate, Dr. Ray Ann Havasy, to open the exhibit. This will be followed by tours for VIPs and the media.

The Dinosaurs! and People’s United Bank Animal Adventure exhibit will feature 30-feet tall model dinosaur skeletons, 17-feet tall animatronic dinosaur models, hand-painted dinosaur murals and a variety of live wild animals; including owls, hawks, a bobcat, emu, mink, golden pheasants, goats, alligators, turtles and frogs. There will also be an additional grand opening of a special exhibit, called the World of Rabbits.

This exhibit is also the first geothermically-run exhibit hall in New York State and the first wild animal park in Nassau County.

The new exhibit should be a big tourist attraction and is expected to draw over 150,000 school children and families from the our region and beyond annually.

The Center for Science, Teaching & Learning is located at 1450 Tanglewood Rd in Rockville Centre at the Tanglewood Preserve. For more information on the center, head to www.cstl.org/.
