Great Neck Library Board of Trustees President Marietta DiCamillo and Trustee Michael Fuller are running to keep their seats in an uncontested election to be held Oct. 28.

DiCamillo, the chief financial officer for Major League Baseball, was elected the board’s president in January after serving as a trustee from 1996 through 2000 and 2005 to the present.

“This term will mark my thirteenth year as Trustee and we are closer, than ever, to a complete renovation of this beautiful and grand building,” DiCamillo wrote in a statement. “The Board operates in a unified manner and I take great pride in being a member of the Board of Trustees.”

DiCamillo emphasized the importance of the planned renovation of the library’s Main Branch, a $10.4 million project that will be subject to a referendum vote on Nov. 19.

“I promise we will successfully work toward the future’s challenges; developing more efficient ways to utilize space while maximizing fiscal resources to improve and maintain our facilities, programs and services,” wrote DiCamillo. “In order to accomplish this goal, we need to renovate and modernize our Main building.  As I promised four years ago, I would only support the plan that met the needs of this community.”

Fuller, the managing director of the real estate firm NAI Global’s New York City branch, was appointed to the board in January following the resignation of Trustee Martin Sokol.

“I decided to run because I had enjoyed the time I had spent there after I had been appointed for one year,” Fuller said.

Fuller, who also has professional experience as an equity options trader, often weighs in on financial issues during library board meetings.

“I have a finance and real estate background, so they do tend to ask me my opinion on these matters,” Fuller said.

Voting in the library election is open to all adult residents of the Great Neck School District who are either valid library card holders or were registered to vote in Nassau County by Oct. 7.

Voting will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Oct. 29 at the library’s Main Branch in Great Neck, as well as at the Parkville Branch in New Hyde Park for voters living south of Northern Boulevard.
