The Humanist Jewish Congregation of Queens & LI is holding a Cultural Hanukkah Celebration on Sunday, Dec. 5 at 2 pm at the Great Neck Library, 159 Bayview Ave., Great Neck, featuring songs, stories, and discussion of the holiday from a humanist perspective.
Humanistic, or Cultural, Judaism is a Jewish movement that offers a nontheistic alternative in contemporary Jewish culture. It defines Judaism as the cultural and historical experience of the Jewish people rather than a religion and encourages Jews who are humanistic and secular to celebrate their identity without prayer.
