Nassau County recently announced that outdoor ice rinks at Christopher Morley Park and Grant Park were recently announced to be open for the 2016-2017 winter season on Friday, Nov. 25.
Nassau County provides three separate ice-skating rinks for residents to enjoy, with outdoor rinks at Christopher Morley and Grant Park open from late November through March, and the indoor rink at Cantiague Park open year-round, according to a press release from the Nassau County executive office.
All rinks provide public skating sessions, lessons, ice hockey sessions and opportunities to rent the ice for birthday parties and other events.
All three facilities offer skate rentals.
Improvements have been made to both Christopher Morley ice rink and Grant Park ice rink, including the replacement of both rinks, new boards, and new chilling systems.
Public skating sessions are as follows:
Grant Park:
· Mondays and Tuesday: 1:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.
· Wednesdays and Thursdays: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
· Fridays: 1:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.; 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
· Saturdays: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; 1:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.; 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
· Sundays: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; 1:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Christopher Morley Park:
· Mondays and Tuesdays: 1:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
· Wednesdays: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; 1:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
· Fridays: 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
· Saturdays & Sundays: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; 1:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Public skating fees for all three Nassau County ice rinks are as follows:
· Resident adult with leisure pass: $8.00
· Adult without Leisure Pass: $22.00
· Resident child, 17 and under, with leisure pass: $6.00
· Child, 17 and under, without Leisure Pass: $15.00
· Veterans, disabled persons, seniors, firefighters, ambulance corps, and auxiliary police with leisure pass: $5.00
· Skate rental: $5.00
*Ice rinks closes at 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 24 and Dec. 31. Ice rinks closed for the day on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, 2017.
Cantiague Park, is located on West John Street, east of Cantiague Rock Road in Hicksville.
Grant Park is located at Broadway and Sheridan Avenue in Hewlett.
Christopher Morley Park is located in at 500 Searingtown Road in Roslyn-North Hills.
