Peter McCormack of Mineola was a member of the 2018 SUNY Oneonta men’s lacrosse team.

The Red Dragons finished with an overall record of 5-9 this spring while completing a 2-4 season record in the SUNYAC.

Peter played in 13 games this season for Oneonta starting in three of them. He scored three goals and added four assists for seven points. Pete collected 19 ground balls and caused four turnovers.

The following students have been named to the dean’s list at Bates College for the winter semester ending in April 2018.

Brooke Drabkin a 2014 graduate of Roslyn High School.

Adena Bernot a 2016 graduate of The Wheatley School.

Aida Milcetic of Manhasset Hills was among the over 60 University of Scranton students inducted into Alpha Sigma Nu, the national Jesuit honor society.

Alpha Sigma Nu is the only honor society open to students and faculty in all disciplines of the University. Junior and senior students who have distinguished themselves in scholarship, loyalty and service are eligible for nomination by chapter members. Appointments are made by the president of the University on the recommendation of the moderator and chapter members of the society, and no more than 4 percent of the junior and senior class may be admitted each year.

Matthew Rothberg, of Port Washington received Lehigh University’s Alumni Association Undergraduate Student Merit Award.

This is the highest honor bestowed upon an undergraduate student by the Alumni Association. The recipients are members of the class of 2017, who by exemplary character, personality, scholarship, and participation in extra-curricular activities, represent the traditions of Lehigh University.

Matthew Rothberg, of Port Washington received Lehigh University’s James J. Duane III Student Life Leadership Award in Spring 2018.

he James J. Duane III Student Life Leadership Award is given to seniors in recognition of extraordinary performance as a student leader at Lehigh University. The following areas are used as a basis for evaluating outstanding performance: overall impact on Lehigh students, program development, and implementation, bridging cultural differences, and student governance by taking a role to improve student, faculty and staff interactions.

Mallory Donelan of Mineola was welcomed into Mortar Board National Honor Society on April 10, at the Western New England University chapter’s annual induction ceremony. Mortar Board is the senior honor society at Western New England University. The society is open to those students who have demonstrated both academic excellence and leadership on campus and in the community. Students in the top 35 percent of the junior class are considered eligible for the society with the membership being selected by the existing members of the previous year.

Derek Moss of Port Washington was selected to present at the 2018 SUNY Undergraduate Research Conference hosted by SUNY Oneonta on April 20.

Students from 28 SUNY colleges and universities presented 179 research projects in two poster sessions, and another 100 projects in oral presentations throughout the day.

Moss, whose major is Music Industry, presented a poster titled “NAMM 2018.”

Michael Ottavio of Manhasset qualified for the Spring 2018 Dean’s List at Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn. Eligibility is based on a minimum course load of 12 hours and a quality grade point average of 3.5 with no grade below a C.

Approximately 30 percent of Belmont’s 8,080 students qualified for the Spring 2018 Dean’s List. Belmont Provost Dr. Thomas Burns said.

Christen Anastas of Mineola was recently inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, the international society serving business programs accredited by AACSB International.

Students inducted into the society must be business majors within the top 10 percent of their class if they are at the undergraduate level, or in the top 20 percent if they are at the graduate level.

illanna Isabelle Fagen of Plandome Manor was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Fagen was initiated at Elon University.

Fagen is among approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership.

Curry College is proud to announce that Julia Friedman of Port Washington, received the Social Justice Award at Curry College’s 49th Annual Awards Recognition Ceremony.

This special event honors Curry College students who have achieved excellence in academics, student life, the arts, and athletics, as well as recognizes Curry staff and faculty for their efforts. In all, more than 70 awards were presented to deserving students, faculty, and staff.

Mallory M. Donelan of Mineola was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, the honor society of AACSB-accredited business schools, at a ceremony conducted by the Western New England Chapter officers. The banquet, held April 19, 2018, at the Log Cabin in Holyoke, was attended by 120 students, guests, College of Business faculty and staff, Dean Rob Kleine, Provost Linda Jones, and President Anthony Caprio, in addition to several members of the College of Business Advisory Board.
