Chiefs come from behind

The Island Now

The Chiefs 11-year-olds played a home at Tully Park on Sunday, and after trailing 16-6 at halftime, came back to beat the Bellmore Braves 25-16.

What a game, tensions were high, and in the end the Chiefs proved too much for the Braves to handle. All the boys played and participated in the victory.

The Chiefs offense led by quarterback Michael O’Connell (3 TD’s, 1 XP) and the strong running of Running Backs Lance Costa (1 TD) and Matt Sluka moved the ball forward against the Braves. The Chiefs offensive line made the offense go with their solid sound blocking led by Michael LaGinestra, Kevin Parente, Patrick McTiernan, Anthony Giunta, Brandon Coward, and Tight-Ends Spenser Warantz and Philip Arnold.

The Chiefs defense made halftime adjustments and went back to their championship 6-2 defense to shutout Bellmore in the second half.

The Chiefs came alive and were aggressive in the second half, making tackles all over the field.

The defensive line of Sante Nicolia, Dylan Vincenti, Vincent Pomara, Joshua Jacob, Ryan Calderone, Naz Jackson, Damien Patterson, Ocian Villa kept the pressure on Bellmore’s offense throughout the game.

Cornerbacks and Safeties played defended the house; they were lead by O’Connell, Andrew Casoria, Jack Duff, Matt Grimm and Thomas Albig.
