The Port Washington/Manhasset Chapter of CancerCare presented The Red Stocking Revue last weekend to raise money for CancerCare.

The theme of this year’s performance was ‘The Tonight Show,’ and featured performances by hosts through the decades and their guests.

The show was underwritten by The Peter & Jeri Dejana Family Foundation and directed by Susan Bishop.

“I am very honored to have been asked to be the director of the Red Stocking Revue again this year,” Bishop said. “Our cast of about 80 volunteers range in age from 5 to 80 plus and are truly amazing people. They have been learning lyrics, singing, dancing, rehearsing, painting and building scenery, assembling and making costumes and raising money in order to put on an amazing show to raise money for CancerCare. This year’s show is quite entertaining and, as always, is family friendly.”

This community production was held from April 14 to 17 in Schreiber High School, located at 101 Campus Drive in Port Washington.

The event featured local talent including singers, dancers, extras, producers, stage crew, stage and journal ad organizers and many others.

“Everybody is a volunteer. It’s a lot of work and people are giving up their time,” Red Stocking Revue Journal Co-Chair Barbara Faticone said. “It’s amazing that they’re all so devoted. Even the children were great.”

All of the net proceeds are donated to CancerCare, which provides financial assistance, counseling, support groups and more for people with cancer, their caregivers, loved ones and the bereaved, according to its website.
