The Cancer Center for Kids (CCFK) at NYU Winthrop Hospital invites community members of all ages in joining them to raise funds and awareness for childhood cancers and blood disorders at the 18th Annual Family Walk on Sunday, September 22, 2019, at Eisenhower Park, Field 2 in East Meadow.

The walk will benefit the CCFK’s psychosocial programs and services, which create therapeutic and supportive interventions for patients and their families, and include child life, creative arts therapy, social work, and child psychology.

“The Cancer Center for Kids’ annual walk is a fun-filled, family-oriented event that our patients look forward to each year. It is an opportunity for families and friends to join together in support of the children, while at the same time raising funds to support a variety of programs in our center that benefit all,” said Mark Weinblatt, MD, chief of the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at NYU Winthrop and Director of the CCFK.

The CCFK’s 18th annual family walk will include refreshments, games, prizes, music, and special activities for children of all ages. The walk will be held rain or shine. Awards will also be presented to the top fundraising team and the largest team, as well as to the team with the most spirit.

“We invite the Long Island community to come and join us for a memorable day to benefit patients and families of the CCFK–the largest outpatient facility treating children with cancer and blood disorders in Nassau County,” said Heather Dall’Aste, development manager of the CCFK.

Registration and check-in will begin at 7:30 a.m. followed by a half-mile kids “fun run” at 8:45 a.m. The two-mile walk for all participants begins at 9 a.m. on the event day. T-shirts will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Pre-registration fees include $30 for participants ages 13 and over and $20 for children ages 6-12. Pre-registration closes on Friday, September 20, 2019, at 11:59 a.m. Day of registration fees are $35 for participants ages 13 and over and $25 for children ages 6-12.
